SETI: Search for Intelligent Life

Prologue
What the series is and what is plans to do

The question of
life other than that of our own planet has pondered the minds of many throughout
history. But yet we know minuscule bits of information about life. Do other
types of life need the same things we need? Are they less advanced than us? What
if they are not friendly? Many more questions boggle the minds of today's
astropyshicists. But I plan to answer all of them, but not only that. I plan to
use scientific knowledge to prove my answers.

These questions and
answers will arise many more times throughout the series.

First off,
does other life need the same things that we need to sustain life elsewhere? The
short answer to that is no. And the longer answer is much more complex. Take a
look at our oceans. Life on the bottom of the ocean floor have adapted to living
there and no longer need sunlight to live. Something so vital as sunlight that
these plants and organisms don't even need, makes it clear that other life may
not even need oxygen to live. But this is only one piece of the puzzle. Join us
in coming weeks for more in-depth information on this.

What if they are
less advanced than us? First, you must specify what you're talking about. Recent
study suggests that there may be billions of living providing planets in our
cluster of galaxies. (Considering they are like us.) According to evolution,
it's taken us millions of years to form. But Earth was created several billion
years after the Big Bang. And we cannot even fathom how big the universe is.
Maybe right at this exact moment, the first civilizations are being born on a
planet countless light years away. We may never know.

What if they are
not friendly? Then really we have no chance. But really, mostly anything will be
unfriendly at first, and - if they're like humans - may never be
friendly. Just like the Indians and the Europeans, the Indians were very
friendly in some places but in others were completely opposed to us. It will
happen if we find intelligent life. But what is even worse is, we have no way to
destroy them. Our weapons will do no damage while they could destroy the
world in a millisecond.

For more like this, read my other articles. If
you have any tips or comments please contact me.

Come back next week for
the first installment in SETI: Search For Intelligent Life where we talk about
the possibility of life elsewhere.
