Cedar Point is releasing a new ride called Rougarou in 2015. The proceeds from the attraction’s “first rides” will go to LeBron James’ foundation.
In the spring of 2015 Cedar Point will unleash Rougarou, a dynamically new riding experience. Cedar Point plans to repurpose their 18 year old ride, The Mantis, to create this new floorless roller coaster. The Mantis will give it’s last rides on October 19. The coaster’s name came from a terrifying werewolf-like creature in French folklore. Cedar Point is donating the proceeds of the coaster’s “first rides” to LeBron James’ foundation that serves nearly 800 Akron students with the goal of helping them succeed in their classroom. Rougarou’s floorless trains will reach speeds of 60 mph as riders feet dangle just inches from the track and the water below. The ride consists of the world’s only inclined loop on a floorless roller coaster, as well as many twists, turns and loops.
Are you brave enough to ride this big, metal beast?
