Eric Holder the first African American senator after six years of working for the state, has just resigned in September of 2014. The reason behind this is because he was worried that the Democrats could possibly lose the Senate to Republicans in November. However, according to White House officials, Holder will remain in the position until his successor takes his place. Since Holder decided to resign right now, he is giving President Obama a better chance to get his next AG nominee though senate, after elections. “I understand the Second Amendment. I respect the Second Amendment. I think we need to use common sense tools to keep the American people safe, to keep our streets safe.” -Eric Holder. Then why did he resign, if he cared this much to protect us? That is not what a good senator does. He let so many people down, just to protect himself. What a coward. That is not what a good senator does.“I don't have any intention of resigning.” -Eric Holder. A good senator is able to make up his mind. Maybe it was a
good thing he resigned. He stood strong and became a champion for civil rights, gay rights, and voting rights. Holder himself
acknowledged what the Department of Justice had been able to accomplish despite overwhelming opposition. He did so many great
things and impacted so many people, and he just quit, to protect himself, it was probably for the greater good he resigned. He
did not need to be in that position anyway. As the great Marilyn Monroe once said “Everything happens for a reason, sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together.” Maybe the world just needs to follow her word of wisdom.
